Long Lakers:
Thank you to those who attended the Sept 14 AGM, provided photos for our How Do You Love Your Lake? slideshow, and to those who submitted funds to support Long Lake Stewardship!
Long Lake Stewardship is the voting voice for our lake on the Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance (GSWA) and many members of our LLS Committee are active on the Board or on the Aquatic Invasive Species Committee (AIS). This summer the GSWA created a new subcommittee of AIS to target Eurasian Water Milfoil. This diligent AIS-EWM committee has been busy meeting with politicians at all levels of government and gave a very successful, well-attended presentation to City Council on Sept 26. Council unanimously supported the proposed motion to create a pilot study to control Eurasian Water Milfoil. (Motion attached.)
Bravo to the GSWA and its hard working committees!
Much appreciation goes out to Councillor McIntosh who was supportive and very helpful in moving the pilot project forward.
