The last Long Lake Gold Mine Remediation Update was May 29, 2017

The Ministry of Northern Development and Mines has completed its environmental assessment of the proposed remediation of the abandoned Long Lake Gold Mine. As part of the Category C process for “Class Environmental Assessment for MNDM’s Activities under the Mining Act”, MNDM has issued a Notice of Completion for a 30 day comment period. The comment period ends September 24, 2017.
A public meeting to update interested persons on the project is tentatively scheduled for an evening during the week of September 10. Once a date and venue have been confirmed, interested persons will be notified by email.
A link to MNDM’s Class EA website are provided below. The links contain the Notice of Completion and the Project Document which provides a summary of the planned remediation work. Documents are available in both English and French.
